Alone....

This is Maddison Nichole.. Our Baby Girl. She is 2 and hates when we leave her to go to work. She sits at the top of the stoop every morning and looks so sad that we are leaving her yet again. She looks like a lil' lost soul sitting there all alone..
If anyone has any suggestions on taking picture of black dogs outside I would really appreciate it. Ever time I try to get a shot of her in the snow, you cannot see any of her details. She just comes out very dark against the white snow.

I can't help on your question, but if i could I wouldn't want to help someone who could walk away from those pleading eyes and not want to take her to work with you. LOL

You have no idea how hard that is LoL. She pouts very well. Some mornings I have to give her a treat just to ease the guilt.

Poor baby, you can just see she is devastated! I think someone needs to quit their job to stay home with her LOL! The only guess I can make is doing one of the following:
1. Maybe change your exposure compensation to +1 or 2
2. increase your ISO
3. lower your shutter speed
I will be watching to see what everyone else suggests!

Can't help you with your problem. I have a small point and shot camera and haven't learned all the ins/out for it yet. Still, this is a very nice shot of her as it is. You could just melt in those eyes.

Forgot to thank you for changing your settings which enable me to comment on your site. Love your Banner photo. However, it could use a tad bit of straightening. Sorry. :-(

Ah, poor sweet thing. Black dogs are hard enough to get detail in let alone in snow, two exposures and blend them maybe if she's still...

Well you are lucky since she will be in the same position every day, you will be able to change your settings every time and find the best ones. I would try everything Tammy said. Maybe even try some real closeups too. She's beautiful. I have a rottweiler and she is mostly black, her brown spots help out though.

The saddest picture :) Bet she is really happy to see you home again. Will get back to you on the black dog in white snow - have been working on this myself.

Do you Meter your shot on her? It may blow the snow out but she should coe up a little better....and the snow is white anyway right?

She is beautiful. I think I'd sneak out to work and not have to look at that face.

shes beautifully captured sitting there and I know exact the look they give. My dog gets under the table and refuse to look at me at all...
